The 'Today.com' family of websites finds its roots in the website NDToday.com, which was founded as an independent venture in the fall of 1999 by
the creative minds of four Notre Dame undergraduates: Frank
Helgesen, Andy Warzon Nick Fellers, and Robert Pazornik.
Seeking to fill an obvious void in the campus e-community, the four combined
their talents to release NDToday.com version 1.0 to Notre Dame students
in August of 1999.
Originally the site featured only a moderate array of community-based applications such as Message Boards, the Student Search and the infamous Voting Booth. The site was created such that it could be custom tailored to the needs of each student user. After registering and creating a profile each user will have a unique experience surfing NDToday depending upon his or her needs and interests.
In June of 2003, NDToday.com and its rights were sold to then Director of Website Operations, Scott Palko and his company, College Club Interactive Studios. CCI Studios has taken the NDToday.com concept and expanded it other post-secondary education institutions across the United States and Canada. It is the purpose of CCI Studios to create online communities for college and university students around the continent, that are information specific to their indivdual school and campus life.
More than just websites, the Today.com family of sites are dynamic and versatile Internet
applications. For all intents and purposes the sites literally run themselves.
The content is generated by user input and automatically linked appropriately
throughout the sites.
Even with a wealth of powerful programming, the Today.com family could not operate without
some programming interaction. CCI Studios is committed to servicing
the needs of the student community and indeed it has been the voice of
the students that has prompted the addition of many popular applications
such as the Teacher Evaluations. Integrated in
the spring of 2000, the teacher evals are entirely populated by the people who know best - the students of each Today.com institution - thus proving even more that the students are the heart of each Today.com website.
From its launch in 1999 to its expansion across North America, the Today.com family of websites has received a warm reception on every campus they have serviced. With more than 25,000 registered users at various post-secondary academic institutions, the Today.com family's popularity continues to grow. With the help of all their avid supporters, it is hoped that the sites will continue to grow, evolve, and serve North American college and university students for a long time to come.
